Mount Blanchard

Mt. Blanchard is located about 7 miles south of Bellingham in Washington State. It was home to many logging enterprises, notably the Blanchard Logging Company and the Bloedel-Donovan Lumber Co. There are some great mountain biking trails on the old logging mountain grades that reach Lilly Lake and Lizard Lake. The top of the trail system culminates in the vast views from Oyster Dome, a large rock dome on top of Mount Blanchard. From the lakes an old incline grade dives down mountain to some logging roads. Much fun on a mountain bike.

Much of the historical documentation on this area is covered in the highly recommended book "Logging Railroads in Skagit County" by Dennis Blake Thompson.
